The state and local governments have built more than 5000 automatic monitoring stations for urban air quality, about 11000 surface water monitoring sections, about 80000 soil environmental monitoring points and more than 1500 radiation environmental quality monitoring points, covering all cities at or above the prefecture level and most districts and counties.
